I am interviewing for a job as an administrative assistant to a female vice president of an advertising firm. I am hoping this will get my foot in the door and wanted to wear something more colorful to show her I had a sense of style. I bought this suit

I really do not like the shoes they had with it and was thinking of wearing a chunky heel with more of a square toe without hose though I was considering wearing black knee highs. I was also thinking of wearing some gold hoop earrings to go with the dress. I am hoping to go with an image that will show my creativity as this is my first foray into advertising. Is this the right approach? What would you recommend?

Since a red suit is very upfront, where some neutral colors to tone down the rest. Small gold hoop earrings(if the buttons on the suit are gold wear gold, if silver wear silver, if red wear gold), no more than two if you have multiple piercings, a watch if you have one, to show that you are concerned with timliness. I would wear a white silk shell beneath the jacket if you have light hair, black if you have dark hair. Black shoes, pointed toes are more grown up, square toes are more club-ish. Chunky heels are high school, slim heels no more than 2″ for office. If you’re feeling daring add a checkered scarf or folded handkerchief. Black purse.

Please please please don’t wear a “chunky heel with a square toe” How 1994. Wear pointy toed shoes, or wear the new rounded toe with a skinny heel. The suit is very pretty, don’t ruin it with some slovenly heels–YUCK!!!!
